A Philadelphia-area theme park is responding to accusations of racism. This comes after a mom accused Sesame Place’s Rosita character of ignoring her two Black daughters throughout a parade. A video that went viral posted to social media seems to indicate Rosita wave no to the women whereas passing them by.
The Sesame Road impressed park has apologized for the incident and says the no movement by the Rosita character was in response to requests from somebody within the crowd who requested Rosita to carry their little one for an image, which isn’t allowed. “We sincerely apologize to the household for his or her expertise in our park on Saturday; we all know that it’s not OK,” Sesame Place stated.
Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit that runs Sesame Road, stated it can “conduct bias coaching and a radical evaluate of the methods during which they interact households and friends” at Sesame Place after a number of movies have triggered backlash on the theme park.
