Elizabeth “Liz” Shannon retired from the Nantucket Fireplace Division in 2020 after 26 years of service as a Fireplace Captain and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). She holds fond recollections of her career and private connections to the Island neighborhood the place she raised two daughters, served a wide range of neighborhood organizations, and embraced a lifelong ardour of fishing.
Following a analysis of sarcoidosis in 2019, Liz was compelled to determine between her profession and her healthspan. Her “completely satisfied place” is having her morning cup of espresso overlooking her backyard whereas watching songbirds, caring for her small flock of chickens, and taking her senior yellow lab Luna for a sluggish stroll.
